My chicks are now about 4 days old and I keep finding dry poop in their feathers. I'm only feeding them chick starter and the water with the electrolytes. Is this normal and how do I clean them up without upsetting them.

I went and picked up some supplies at the Feed store. I got a container, some bedding, some food, feeding and watering containers and a heat lamp with a red bulb. The chicks should be arriving next week. Am I forgetting anything?
Good to know. We are getting ready to put together our first coop (bought on sale at tractor supply) and my husband suspects it may need reinforcing the way a Walmart bookshelf or desk does. I was thinking of using leftover house paint so the coop and the house will match.
Me too. I guess I have a month to finish mine. I'm picking up my chicks in a couple of weeks. I got a prefab coop that is supposed to be big enough for 8 hens. Since I only plan to get 4 chicks it should be ok even though I have heard that the coops tend to run small.
