I have a couple of polish chicks that I have no idea what colors they are. One is a blueish and the other is a darker black with brown coming on the wings. Any ideas?
So she was just hot; I gave her some air conditioner by setting two gallon bags filled with ice next to her and she popped those eggs right back underneath herself. Thankfully the weather the next few days is going to be much cooler so she shouldn’t have any issue on hatch day Wednesday.
Thanks...
I have a first time broody that has been sitting on 6 infertile eggs for two weeks.
I swapped her eggs for 7 fertile eggs yesterday afternoon (due to hatch Wednesday). I’ve been checking on her on and off yesterday and today she seems to keep a few eggs partially uncovered. I keep pushing them...
Question for you if you don’t mind :D
1 hatched this afternoon and 4 others have pipped so I candled the remaining 3 including the taped one. One egg has internally pipped the other hasn’t and the taped one hasn’t either.
I took off the tape carefully to check it and the membrane was dry at...
Do you have a good video suggestion to watch so I can see what they look like when they internally pip? I’ll probably spend my night YouTubing it anyways.
So appreciative of the help.
First time hatching chicks!
I’m on day 19 on a clutch of 8 seramas being hatched out by a first time broody. I have to take her off the nest 3 times a day to eat and poop as she refuses to leave her eggs. When doing the second check this afternoon I noticed a tiny pip hole and got excited. I...
Agreed, wanted to make sure. The white one in all the pictures has a much darker red face than the others which made me think maybe she is a he but the feathers say pullet to me.
They are so quiet…no one is crowing yet. Wish I could find a home for them instead of culling. I’ve never had any issue rehoming roosters but this year literally zero interest.
I have 8 EEs, two I’m certain are roosters and then I have one questionable white one. Below is the bird in question, I also provided a link to a quick clip of the flock…how many roosters do you see in the video? I’m hoping it’s only the two!
ps- don’t mind the bantams. :)
As I mentioned, the turkeys would only be in the run to sleep once they are large enough to free range. I have no intention of keeping them in the run, just as chicks so they learn that’s their home.
I’m a long time chicken owner but never had a pet turkey so I’m hoping for some advice.
Currently I have 6 Bantams in a 12x12 7 ft tall covered run with an attached 4x8 coop(that they only lay eggs in, they prefer to sleep in the rafters in their run).
I’m getting 4 straight run Narraganset...

I have 4 under 1 year old laying bantam hens that need a new home. They are my best looking birds but they bully my other 6 bantams, would do best in a mixed flock of standard chickens. One or more is mounting my bantam RI reds and they are now bareback.

I think they will probably figure out they need to go in. When the lawn gets mowed they all run into the coop until the coast is clear.
The run stays dry all winter so that won’t be an issue. Really appreciate the feedback!
That’s what I’d like to do, just let them be. They used to roost in the coop no problem until they figured it was higher and more fun to be in the run.
This is my first bantam flock and wasn’t sure if they are more fragile than standards. I think I’ll just leave them and see how it goes...just...
