Thank you so much and yes you are right about that. My daddy always said something is only worth what someone will pay for it. I wanted these enough to pay for them.... haha. But I do need to learn more. I appreciate your help. I truly can't wait to hatch chicks no matter what color they are!
Thank you very much. I don’t really know how to upload pictures any better. I wish I did! I guess I got taken on this deal. I wound up paying a lot more.
I have been acquiring a few peafowl lately and trying to add more. I know some prices, but I also am afraid I may be taken as a beginner. I'm wondering perhaps a close standard price for a pair of Java green. She is three and he is five and she is laying now.
I do let them out every day so that may have been what it was. I bought a thermometer yesterday to put in the outdoor refrigerator to try and keep the temp where it needs to be. Thank you for your help.
I know you can refrigerate eggs for extended length of time. I took some out last night to scramble and I always crack one at a time in a cup. Several of them were brownish looking (yolk) and seemed tough. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on this. They weren't in the fridge more than...
I use FRM game bird starter. It has worked very well for me. I have great hatch rates with quail...unless I accidentally leave them out too long before putting in the incubator. In six weeks I have them ready to sell to a buyer. I use starter, grower, then breeder. Mine have started laying...
Great job! Hope I can do well with mine. I've bought and hatched three sets so far, but the first eggs from my pair are due to hatch this weekend. I love those birds!
Yes be very careful with chickens and puppies. I have a 4 month old Pyrenees that was supposed to be my guard dog....but has killed one of the rarest roosters I had along with a few others. I did not do my research up front and was told the dog slept with chickens so I thought she wouldn't...
I have researched these birds for nearly a year now and have hatched three sets from the "best" breeding stock. I don't believe there will ever be birds that will not have chicks with "defects". Even Greenfire and FoxFire (Brothers) will tell you this. The Astin Marie birds have defects...
I'm not really sure I would agree with everything said here. I am relatively new at raising Cemanis but I have done quite a bit of research. I have hatched three sets of eggs that came from excellent stock...Greenfire and Foxfire....and even some of those had white toes that turned black...
Can someone help me with a link to getting NPIP approved? I sent an email to what I thought was the right contact and have heard nothing back. Appreciate any help.
Normally a healthy chick will be able to hatch on its own. Usually when you help one like this it will have deformities that are not known about. Sometimes they suffer more. I am not an expert, but in my years of raising birds I have discovered my help is not help the majority of the time.
I would be careful with the protein. I had a recent post about chickens dying unexpectedly and everyone on here kindly helped me. In the end my chickens were not getting enough protein for the winter/molting and were actually malnourished. After adjusting their feed and adding foods with...
