Congratulations! I am so happy your baby survived. it's hard to know when to help and when not. You did the right way!!!

Normally a healthy chick will be able to hatch on its own. Usually when you help one like this it will have deformities that are not known about. Sometimes they suffer more. I am not an expert, but in my years of raising birds I have discovered my help is not help the majority of the time.
