fell off the wagon and brought home four cuties, my first bantams. Got two of each of these, I can’t find anything looks like either of these.
These have the stripe, but it’s kind of blurry, and very feathered legs and feet.
These are very tiny, and speckled with blue or black.
Any...
I ordered from Meyer, and my order consisted of 1 olive egger pullet (who was banded),
2 Easter Egger pullet, 1 Meal Maker, 2 assorted white layer pullet and 6 rare breed assorted pullet
Blue Andalusian? Could be either rare breed or the white layer assorted.
This one I have NO idea. It...
Meyer had some Black Copper Marans come available, so I snagged a few, but filled the rest of the order with rare pulley assortment. Some are obvious...a blue Orpington (they banded that one), two lavender Orpingtons, a blue Cochin, but a few I have no idea.
There are two of these.
And...
I have a barred rock, about 18 weeks old (not laying) who keeps getting
in the nesting boxes every day and throwing all the straw out. It's starting
to bug me. WHY is she doing this? Investigating? Thinking of laying? Every
day I go out to find golf balls on bare wood, and half the time with her...
One of my EE pullets was sneezing today, I caught her and isolated her. She is acting normal,
eating and drinking and furious about being separated. But she was sneezing and sounds a
little bit congested, and has a very small amount of clear discharge from her nostrils. Should
I just watch her...
This pullet remains unidentified. At first I thought her one
Of the Easter eggers. But she has no ear muffs. Her legs are quite
Green. She is solid white. I did order four rare egg layer assort
...and never twigged the fourth one. But I did not
Order any jersey giants...do I have one? And a real...
7 weeks Monday. Same size and feathered out at the same rate as the other wyandottes. I hope it isn't a cockerel. I will not keep it if it is. From Meyer hatchery.
One month old on Monday. . .little red chick. somewhat smaller than the others, has developed
some other colors on her wings. . .and is being slow to feather. I am guessing she's the fourth
of the rare egg layer assortment, but I haven't got a clue what it is. The others were two white
crested...
of course it's my daughter's favorite too. It's an EE chick and it has a MAJOR crossed
beak, and it's happened in the last few days. . it wasn't like that the last time she held
it several days go. the top beak doesn't even cover the bottom at all. She's pretty strong
and vigorous otherwise, but...
I've seen chicks on shavings lots of times, nearly all the times that they
were not on wire. . .I had them on paper towels the first few days but I
put shavings down today, and while they seem happier than pigs in mud,
I am scared they are going to eat that stuff and either get an impacted
crop...
My chicks are on the way. . .. but they gave me two tracking numbers. So I
got on the web chat with Meyer and asked about it, and she didn't know why
there is two boxes. . . she speculated that they put them 15 to a box ( I ordered 27
chicks) and put heat packs in with them. Do you think that is...
Rather excited, it's been around a decade since I've had chickens and I've missed them
(long story, lots of moving involved). I read a lot and decided to order from Meyer. I live in
SW west virginia (transplant from the deep south). . . I'm a little apprehensive now after
reading about so much...
