    Yeah, she’s eating and drinking water. Wound is dry - so it seeping. I think things will be ok. Keeping her enclosed in an old dog cage indoors for circa two weeks then she can be reunited with the other hens

    No her mum was on the rooster bar and she was down in the nest / box. Squirrel is possible although I haven’t spotted many around the coop (yet) My dad is a game keeper and he thinks it may have been a hoody crow. Thanks for the replies

    so I was closing the coop door and I found this poor fella tonight. 1 of our hens hatched her just 3 weeks ago. I’ll be very surprised but I hope she makes it through tonight. I can’t decide if maybe a rat has pecked her today or the cockerel or another hen has seeisouly been pecking at her.

    Hoping for a happy ending

    so myself and my wife purchased 4 hens and 1 cockerel (All bluebells ) 2 hens were 16 weeks as was the cockerel and 2 hens were 8 weeks. The cockerel done his business with a hen, we had 3 eggs and 24 days later 1 hatched. All done by the hen alone. Today we found the baby chick with a nasty...
