If anyone is looking or knows anyone that can take these cockerels (doesn't need to be together) please let me know, they're starting to bully my only hen and I feel terrible... trying to figure out a way to separate them in the run temporarily but I need to find something more permanent soon...
Hey everyone! I got baby chicks about 6 months ago and they both turned out to be roosters, trying to find them a good home! I'm located in Marrero but would be willing to drive them to their new home. They're not aggressive, I just don't have enough room to keep roosters.
We got two Americauna/Easter Egger chicks hoping at least one would be a hen (we were tricked because "she" started crowing this week). Just shy of 6 months old. They aren't aggressive, one will even let us hold him :love Located in Louisiana, but could drive to Mississippi if needed.
Thanks guys, just curious how can you tell? I'll try to get a side view pic of Popcorn's tail, but it doesn't curve like Coopcake's. I also have a laying hen who has been at the top of the pecking order since I introduced everyone, which would surprise me if she's the only girl living with two boys!
I have two Americaunas that are 5 1/2 months old. I knew Coopcake was a rooster from the time his wattles started to show, but was sure Popcorn was a girl. She doesn't have wattles, just a bunch of fluff on her cheeks and neck. But yesterday, I realized she was crowing. Does she think its funny...
Thanks, I will try that...she isn’t scratching at it and she’s still eating and moving normal. I have her separated but yesterday when she was still with her sister (I only have the two of them) she wasn’t getting pecked at.
It seemed to be coming from inside the eye. The bumps seemed dry, just crusty but when I did the saline rinse and cleaned it up, bloody discharge was still running out of her eye
This morning my girls’ eye is crusted shut, I tried to rinse it with saline so she could open it but she wouldn’t stay still long enough for me to soak it that good. Is there more I should do or just continue to watch/rinse/antibiotic cream? (Her other eye is still ok)
There were definitely mosquitoes out before I got her, but it has been much cooler this week so they haven’t been out since she’s been with me.
I did rinse with saline earlier today and that cleaned her face up, but the bloody discharge hasn’t stopped. I will separate her and try the...
No it wasn’t like that when I got them, it started this morning. They did live together prior to me bringing them home. I got them from a friend of a friend who has/breeds chickens. Thanks so much for everyone’s responses and suggestions
Hey everyone! I picked up two 3 month old Easter egger girls last weekend and everything has been great until today I noticed one of my girls’ eyes was covered in blood.
If you look closely at the pics, you can see 3 bumps around the eye (top, bottom and back) her other eye is normal and she is...
Thanks for the replies everyone! I was thinking of using plywood flooring because my coop is on pavement, but realize that could cause a problem if it gets too wet.
