Hello all. I have a Barnevelder pullet (have had her since day 1). I notice that she is built very differently to my other breeds, so wasn't too concerned about how she looks until recently.
She seems to be lopsided. I know the breed typically has higher-set wings, but she appears to have her...
Hi all, I recently sold three eight-week-old chickens to a local person and they called me to tell me that one was not thriving, and the next day she died. They have had her for almost 4 weeks. The other two that I sold them are doing great. Any thoughts on why one chicken (at 11 weeks old)...
I have 3 Cream Legbars and 2 Welbars (I think?) I thought I would post them side-by-side if anyone has thoughts. One is more brownish/rust and the other leans toward more greyish hues.
Hi all, I just came across a photographer in Pennsylvania who has posted some really good photos of her chicks at different stages of growth. Sometimes we get chicks in our brooder and we're not quite sure what type of chick they are, and her photos have helped me identify several of mine.
The...
Hey y'all, I bought 12 baby chicks a few weeks ago, and one of them is a white one that I don't think I purchased. She seems to have just appeared with all the others. Is there a way to identify what breed she is?
Trying to figure out if this chicken is an Australorp. I've read that they're fairly early layers. She's 6 months old, and not an egg yet. The rest of my flock (EE, RIR, OE) have been laying for a month already.
Not sure what's causing this- my flock of 10 just started laying, but 1 chicken lays only soft no-shell eggs. They all eat the same food, are cooped together, and range together. I believe it's either my buff orpington or black australorp. Any thoughts? I always find it 1st thing in the morning...
Hi All!
A few weeks ago I lost two of my chickens to the neighbor's dog. I was able to replace my light Brahma with a new light Brahma of the same age. I'm slowly introducing her to my flock, but I've noticed that she seems to have an issue with plucking her own feathers and eating them. I'm...
This pullet is 11 weeks old, and I'm trying to figure out the cross. She's black with iridescent green feathers, and also orange undertones. Black feathered legs, too. And she's way bigger than my RIR and golden sexlink.
Hi all,
My Japanese bantam is 6 weeks today. I got 3 bantams from my local feed store, straight run. 2 are D'Uccle pullets, but I'm starting to wonder about this one. At 6 weeks, can you tell?
