I just loaded my Brinsea 20 advanced with some double laced silver barnie eggs this morning and my cradle turner has just stopped working. Im soooo mad  . When you spend lots of dollars on an incubator new you expect it to last for many years. It just so happens I was looking at new...
They are having an amazing store front sale today. I purchased my dream chickens (barnevelders) for $1.95 each straight run!!! They generally run around $10 a chick. Im super happy. Got them home and in the brooder. I sure did miss having chickens. Havent had any in about a year and those...
I just purchased chukar eggs and received them in the mail. I read that shipped eggs have low hatch rate...ok. I cant find much info on the incubating/hatching process. I assume they are like quail but incubate a little longer? When do I stop turning them and go into lockdown?
These little guys are so tiny. I love this specie of parrots. They are the worlds smallest parrots measuring a whopping 3 inches long. When the babies are about 2.5 to 3 weeks old I will pull them and start hand feeding them. Arent they precious?
Ive got hatching fever. I cannot wait for my quail eggs to hatch so I can hatch me some CHICKENS!!!! Is that so bad? I mean they are bantam eggs and we all know how chicken math works....1 bantam =5 LF right?
I just picked up 7 5-6 week old coturnix quail. Two roos and 5 hens. Is the roo to hen ratio too high or do I need both of them? I also have 3 dozen quail eggs in the incubator but the lady I got them from said that she was only having a 40% hatch rate (good thing they were cheap lol). Any...
I bought a small flock of Gold Laced bantam
Cohins on Tuesday and they rewarded me with my first egg today. They are 13 months but I havent had a chicken lay an egg in soooooo long because I havent had chickens in a while. Im eggcited!!
Ive been looking for Barnevelders for YEARS with no luck. I happen to check to local CL in my area for a quail cage and guess what? I found some BARNIES Im picking them up early this afternoon and I couldnt be more excited. Gotta get my brooder ready this morning. Ive also got to pick up...
Just bought me some bantam Gold Laced Cochins. Three hens and a roo. They are 13 months old. Super excited. Ive missed having chickens for a long time. I also ordered some bantam Buff Brahmas too. Ill pick them up thursday as they are scheduled to hatch tomorrow.
Just left the post office with my new pilgrim goslings that I ordered from Murray Mc Murray hatchery. I got 2 ganders and 3 hens. I already got 2 hens last week from a local individual. Now I have the perfect ratios. Im super excited
By reading the forum I seen that most people start their goslings out on 18% protein food and go down from there. I was at the hatchery yesterday and they told me that after 18% they needed 20%. Which is it? Mine are currently on 18% and are less than a week old. Im expecting more goslings...
Oh boy what a decision. The advance 20 with auto turner is on sale for 359.99. I have a hovabator 1588 that Ive never had issues with but Ive always wanted a Brinsea. Thoughts?
I picked these two up at TSC out of the bantam bin. I got them home and just a few days later the one started to curl feathers. I got a frizzle YAY. I have no idea what breed they are but they have feathered shanks. Any ideas? The other is pictured because their coloration is the same but...
