Swollen eye - not sure what else to do

I gently pulled her eyelids open and saw a white object towards the front of her eye. Then I used a damp paper towel and sort of drug it across the puss and it pulled it out. 🥴 I’m sure it is different for every chicken but that’s what happened with mine

Swollen eye - not sure what else to do

Oh my goodness thank you! I went and did what you said and got out a pea sized cooked-egg-white-looking thing from her eye! Idk if pus can be like that 🧐. I always think of pus as yellow and goopy. But either way!!! No wonder she has been so uncomfortable 🥴.

Swollen eye - not sure what else to do

Thank you so so much for your help - I do appreciate it! I know so little 🥴 and am learning so much! So I wasn’t able to get my hands on Terramycin but I did get Vetericyn ophthalmic gel from my feed store and started to apply it. Do you have any suggestions on how to push out any pus/applying...

Swollen eye - not sure what else to do

Hello! I have a 18 month old hen. 12 days ago she showed signs of a swollen eye/sinuses to the point that her eye was basically swollen shut - but only the one. I separated her from the others and started giving her amoxicillin. I thought I heard her sneeze as well but we have also been having...

    Males or Females?

Oh wow! Thanks for your thoughts everyone! Can you tell me for #6 and #7 what you are seeing that makes you think they are not Roos? I thought their tail feathers looked like they were starting to turn into saddle feathers? By 4+ months should it be fairly obvious if they are male or female?

    Males or Females?

Hello! I incubated eggs that I purchased locally with the goal of finally being able to have some hens that lay fun color eggs (mostly green but some blue and gray as well)! The owner said her roos are all Marans and then her hens are mixed so I am not sure exactly what the breeds are - just...

Gender? Mixed chicks Americana / Olive egger

Hello! These are the first two chicks I have ever hatched. I am so excited about them...but a little nervous they are both (or at least the older one) is a Roo. The larger darker is 5 weeks old - its mom is an Americana and the dad is an Olive egger. I also have pictures of this ones wings...

Hello! I am dying to add a blue chicken of some sort to my backyard flock. I just love the beautiful gray color. Does anyone have any hatching eggs I could buy to put in my incubator? Thanks so much!

Ah! Help - I Thought this egg had died.....

Thank you so much - I really appreciate it. In general do you have advice on Maran eggs? Do you find that you need to do anything to help them out with the thickness of the shell? It is just crazy to me how much thicker it is than my other eggs.

Ah! Help - I Thought this egg had died.....

Thanks for your reply! My original incubator did not have an automatic egg turner but I turned them 3 times a day. Then I ended up buying a 36 egg capacity automatic egg turning incubator from Stromburg's so I transitioned it over there (along with all of the other eggs at day 15). It's so...

Ah! Help - I Thought this egg had died.....

Hello! So this is my first time incubating eggs. I had 3 eggs that were to hatch Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The Monday and Tuesday eggs (small americana eggs) hatched yesterday and today but the Sunday egg (Maran) had shown zero progress. After reading about Marans and how hatch rates aren't...
