Can't totally remember my reasoning for wanting them, but it has been around 10 years since we got our first ones. We started with a small order of mixed chicks from MPC, and then added a few local silkies. Our high was 35-40 and now we are at 30 plus 2 turkeys. I would like to add some quail...
My daughter and I will once again be joining you all! We will set some of our own serama, and SFH, and look to purchase some olive eggers, ameracaunas, marans, and whatever else we have to try. Looking forward to it and good luck everyone!
We hatched 9/9 of the SFH’s, 8/11 of the Serema’s, 3/6 of the BCM’s, 0/2 EE, 0/3 OE and 1/1 NN.
....For some reason we lost one SFH, and I think we are done. Time to clean out the bator, order some eggs and try again.
So far our hatch consists of all 9 of the SFH’s, 8 out of 11 of the Serema’s, 3 out 6 of the BCM’s, and our lone NN. :celebrateWhich leaves 3 OE’s, 3 BCM’s, 2 Serama’s, and 2 EE’s, that may still do something.:fl
So we have added color and some more variety to our flock, but not so much to our...
We are having a pretty good hatch so far with 6 Serama’s, 3 BCM and 1 SFH doing well in the brooder, and 3 SFH’s, 3 Serama’s and my lone NN:yawith external pips.
I am at work today so no live action, but the report from my wife at home is that we have a total of 3 Serama's and 3 BCM's out, with 2 SFH (first ones ever):celebrate, 1 BCM, and 3 Serama's externally pipped.
We moved our first two chicks (BCM and Serama) to the brooder, and have three more Seramas and one BCM that have pipped. Good luck and Happy Hatching everyone!
Got home to a pipped egg sitting on the turner at 40% humidity. My daughter and I wrapped it in a damp paper towel and put it and all the others in egg cartons, took out the turner, added warm water and closed the lid in anticipation for this hatch. He/she is a BCM, that it out and a Serama egg...
Emma did not want to wait to candle until tomorrow, so this is what we have going into the last week.
OE. 3/8 developing
EE. 2/7 developing
NN. 1/6 developing
SFH. 9/14 developing
BCM 6/8 developing
Seramas 11/12 developing
I would be real happy with 25 or better!
This hatch I purchased a mix of EE, OE, and SFH shipped to Athens, GA from Unidilla, NY which are progressing well, Seramas out of South James Port, NY that are also doing well and lastly some NN out of Hillsboro, TX that are unfortunately almost a total fail with 5/6 clear.
My daughter and I performed our first candle tonight and pulled 16 (mix of clear or blood ring) of the 52 we had in our incubators. The bad news is that 5/6 of the surprise NN from Ebay where no go’s, but our shipped SFE’s, EE’s, OE’s and Seramas are all doing pretty well. We will do it again...
