I had posted a thread 3 days ago, where my baby chick was grasping for air from time to time.
Now it has become constant, and makes a squealing sound when she breathes...
Note: The baby chick came from a big brooder and it was destined to die because they had forgotten to vaccinate her with the...
Update:
It's been doing much better now, I massaged its throat top to bottom.
Massaged its crop too, let the heater closer and it slept soundly!
For its food, I give it crushed oat meal, sliced parsley, a little bit of cooked rice (small amount) as a treat, sesame seed (also small amount)...
It chirps normally when not grasping for air. When it breathes while sleeping, it makes a slight squeaking noise.
It eats and drinks well , but tends to sleep more since yesterday.
Has plenty of energy despite this issue, and will search for food all the time.
Good day to everyone!
In the attached links, is my baby chick.
Since yesterday, I felt something off with it. And today, it started doing this grasping for air motion like once every 15 seconds.
I've taking good care of it, feeding it according to a veterinarian. And it's been with me for 4...
Well unfortunately I tried this before it died, I flipped it upside down for 30 seconds and nothing changed. But my guess is, that the fluid was trapped in its' lungs for a while before I could do something about it and it could've entered a severe case of Oxygen debt.
Right now, yes. But I fear that it's going to die like you said. I really don't know why it happened to only one chick. This one was my smallest chick ( I have 3).
Thanks Chrissynemetz!
I am getting them that heat lamp. Honestly, I should have gotten them the heat lamp before everything now that everyone is talking about it in the thread. And yes, I have a camera ready to take some shots in the near future!
