    Will a Gander help?

Wanna bet! Sounds like you need some poultry netting. As in the electrified kind. There is zero reason for children to learn it is acceptable to harass animals of any kind. If their parents won’t teach then, an electric fence will!

    Favorite Ornamental Chicken Characteristic

I like SMALL crests and/or muffs and beards. (I don't like a Polish type crest.) Seriously dislike things like feathered feet/legs.

    Dog kennel

Look on craigslist and FB marketplace for kennels. They are often a fair amount cheaper than new. Just know how much new ones are, so you know if you are getting a good deal or not. 2x4 welded wire is SO much better than chain link if you can afford it. (It's much tougher and harder for a...

Duck Dilemma, to Cayuga or not to Cayuga?

So did you add any to your order? (If you already said one way or the other, I missed it.)

    Cockerel sexual maturity

No idea what the "correct' answer is. But I would put him with the older girls. Hopefully they will teach him some manners. No reason for him to be breeding pullets that are too young to even lay yet. IMO that is just asking for injuries.

    Which would you prefer?

No experience with any of them. However, roosters can cause hens to look like they are in a constant state of molt.

    Sharing our 2022, Chick Orders🐥🐤

I got 3 black Ameraucana POL pullets from a breeder last month. Getting 5 SR Cayuga ducklings from a different breeder as soon as they are "coop ready" and don't need heat. They are almost 3 weeks old now. I'm also waiting on some black Appenzeller Spitzhauben pullets. Eggs were just put...

Welded Wire for run and windows/ventilation

Don't "settle" for 1" by 1". Holes are too big to keep things like mice and small snakes out.

    LOUD Chicken Breeds

I have a mottled Java hen and 3 black Ameraucana pullets. (All 3 pullets just started laying in the last 30 days.) I wouldn't call any of them "loud".

What's the rarest breed or variety you have?

Unfortunately, she isn't mine. I got the image from the internet. As far as I have ever seen/heard, sadly, that color isn't available in the US.

    Number of roosters in flock.

And even with 1 rooster, he may have his favorites that get way more attention than necessary, while others get very little or none.

    Ideas wanted

Are you planning on adding a bunch of ventilation? I would imagine it gets fairly hot there in the summer? A metal shed is like an oven if the sun shines on it.

This is a full body shot of a female citron Spitzhauben. (Citron is the color of this bird.

Eglu Large Cube and Walk-In run

Even Silkies? (I have ZERO clue, never had any and never will.) I just didn't know if they stay as warm naturally as a regular feathered chicken since they don't have regular feathers. :)

Eglu Large Cube and Walk-In run

IMO, 10 bantams would be wedged in there like sardines. In the picture there are only 3 large fowl birds in the "main" part and there just isn't enough room for even them. If you hae much wind, that thing will blow over unless it is heavily staked down some how. Are you going to totally cover...

Need fencing advice at new property - Suggestions please!!

Depending on how bad their ground is, no man, no matter his size, would be able to pound posts in. Some places, the ground here is so rocky, that you might be able to get a post in if you use a tractor with a bucket and push them in that way. But some places, that just bends the t-post...

OK, it will keep "most" chickens in. If they aren't crazy and don't like to climb. LOL

Need fencing advice at new property - Suggestions please!!

Chicken wire doesn't keep anything (as far as predators or even mice.) out. It only keeps chickens in.

What's the rarest breed or variety you have?

Since it has been mentioned that this thread lacks enough pictures, here are my Mottled Java and one of my black Ameraucana pullets.
