Any suggestions for attending my first poultry show?

Oh no, I hope I don’t have to compete with people who want to combat egg prices by getting show quality birds! 🙈 I’ll show them some Craigslist posts and elbow them outta the way! 🤣 Sounds like your area is into it! Nothing like that on the FB pages for the Poultry Assoc or the Fair that I have...

Any suggestions for attending my first poultry show?

Hi. Your girls really ARE rocking it! 😍 I am attending my first one in CA this weekend and had similar questions. Hadn’t thought about cash and cages but now it seems obvious! 😂 I’m wondering if anyone can ballpark what we can expect to pay, say for a Silkie/Polish v. Orpington v Cayuga duck...

Why is my quail not laying eggs?

My experience has been around the 8-10 week mark as well. I have had friends that have had luck at 6 weeks though. Also, if you only had your 1 roo (RIP 😞) and your 1 hen together in the coop, that might also cause too much stress for her to lay if he was an “active” dude. 😉 It’s gonna...

Just sitting here waiting for the floof to pip. On my bajillionth hatch and I still go down the “what did I do wrong” rabbit hole, cruising the forums gloom and doom threads 🤣 I need to go out of town during lockdown! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Really, hmm. My barnevelders are the first to jump in my lap! :love I wonder if they take their cue from the silkies. I may just stick to those. Thank you!!

4 Cayuga Drakes needing homes -Bay Area CA

Oh they are so beautiful!! I love seeing a yellow bill on these guys pop up. Unfortunately, I am breeding solely for the black bill. 😥 Thanks for sharing your pics, I wish you the very best of luck in finding them homes. ❤️

Thanks for the reply. I’m in it more for the feathers than the egg color, are they compact size and mellow like the barnevelders? My flock consists solely of bantams.

Hi there, I may be late to the party, but I would be interested in your barnevelders if you still need to find them a home. :)

First quail, then bantam (unashamed) designer chooks, and now messy, stinky, lovely, silly ducks have stolen my heart since I last updated. Bird math. I see a turkey (or several) in my future…

    Nurture Right 360 Incubator Okay?

Ahhhhh I love BYC!! Four years after the original post I come here to see if there’s an answer to my NR360 turner issue and here it is. I could manually turn with the +/- but it wouldn’t engage otherwise. As suggested I unplugged for two minutes, checked the connections as I restarted it, hit...

    Silkie Cockerel - So California

He is a gorgeous boy, thank you. He’s still here and I don’t hate it. Most days now I think about keeping him and rehoming his brother instead. Fortunately they are still young enough that there haven’t been any major problems yet. I suppose the universe will direct us when the time comes. Mr...

    Silkie Cockerel - So California

Looking to rehome this super sweet silkie cockerel as I have too many. 15 weeks old from Alchemist Farm, only crows a few times at sunrise. Handled often, zero aggression. Located in North San Diego County, can drop off from here to West Los Angeles on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Silkie Cockerel, 12 weeks, So California

Aw thank you. I did find him a perfect hime not far from me. Dropped him off and saw the setup. Lovely people that love their birds. I felt good leaving him there. Thank you! I guess I should go update my post. 🤗

Rehome Silkie Cockerels 13 wks San Diego

Thank you for this information! I managed to rehome two to really great spots. Still have the charcoal grey one. I’m having a hard time letting him go right now, we’ll see how many hens I end up with in the brooder but I’ll definitely join the groups and keep it in mind. Thanks again.
