Mystery's Hatch Along: New Breed, plus extras.

The waiting part so close to hatching is my least favorite bit of the whole experience. I blame A CERTAIN CHICKEN who waited to hatch until after I'd stayed up THE ENTIRE NIGHT trying to keep an eye on her. That CERTAIN CHICKEN is like a cat sometimes. She'll do literally anything she can to...

Hatching chicks pipped, then died why?

Maybe the humidity, or the ruptured air cells, as you said? Or both. It's possible the chicks died because the humidity was too high and they drowned because of the ruptured air cells. It is not your friend's fault in any way, though. I am very sorry for her loss. :hugs

Chick with tiny wings, just growing slowly?

All three chicks look healthy and happy to me. One of my favorite chickens, Sandstorm, was half the size of her friends from the very beginning and she's still a little hen. But she is doing great! I think everything is ok, even though the chick is developing feathers at a slower pace. Maybe...

'Sweetest' / most human friendly chicken breeds

My friendliest chicken ever is probably Sandstorm. As a chick, she would willingly hop onto my hands and as a hen, she insisted on following me around the coop as I tried to collect eggs. She's a Rhode Island Red though, and in my experience, they're not always the friendliest. Sandstorm is a...

    Best small incubators?

I agree that you should get a Brinsea mini. I have four eggs in a Brinsea mini at the moment and they're all doing well :)
