Any way to keep a hen from going broody? I have a lady who successfully hatched a clutch in September. She went broody again last month, went to broody jail, was good for a few weeks, and now she’s broody again. I’d like to not have to break out the cage every month…..

Just over a year, and my flock keeps growing….just recently a broody mama successfully hatched 6 chicks. Fortunately I anticipated that my flock might expand and I built a much larger coop than I thought I needed. I really love my birds and their quirky personalities!
I thought about that. The crate wouldn’t fit in the coop so I’d have to put her in the run. The temps at night have been in the 20s (and will be in the teens one night coming up), and I’m worried that she would be too cold in the run by herself without flockmates to roost with.
