3 week pheasant chick with wry neck

Thanks for the reply 007Sean. I kept reading stories of chicken recovery, but the info on pheasants seemed less positive. I wonder if vitamin E ever has helped on pheasant wry chicks...

3 week pheasant chick with wry neck

I have a three week old pheasant chick that came down with wry neck the first week she was hatched. She held her head at a 90 degree angle. Since then I have been giving her supplemental doses of vitamin E and selenium. It has been two weeks on this regimen, and she seems to be getting worse...

    Pheasant chick, crop overfull?

Also is it possible it is her just holding her head off center, like wry neck? She looks a bit like the last pic in this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/3-wk-ee-has-head-tilted-to-one-side-and-walks-in-circles.975506/ She doesn't have trouble walking though. She is super hungry...

    Pheasant chick, crop overfull?

I hope so. She had no food overnight and this morning the size is unchanged. Will it go down on its own? Is there treatment to help? Coconut oil? Massage? Grit?

    Pheasant chick, crop overfull?

She seems to be pooping ok. I haven't noticed in the last couple of hours, but before that she was fine. I just took away her food dish, so she stops eating. Will that be ok to do? I left plenty of water, and a little bit of grit on the ground next to it.

    Pheasant chick, crop overfull?

Pheasant chick has enlarged neck swell on her right side. (crop?) She is 4 days old, and pecks at everything constantly. I separated her last night because I am afraid she will poke an eye out of her pen mates. She is in her own area. Large enough space, 90-95 under the brooder warmer (depending...

Is this yolk sac or something worse? help!

I think you were right. An unabsorbed yolk. I thought she was going to make it as she was very active and eating fine. This morning she got extremely lethargic, so I held her with a soft cloth warmer until she died. So sad. I guess it was probably omphalitis?

Titan Brooder/brooder plates experience high heat- ?

I know this thread is a year old. I have just gotten the same brooder, and it feels super hot (burning) to the touch. So did we decide the chicks shouldn't come into contact with the plate it at all? I should raise it ABOVE where it is possible they can touch?

Is this yolk sac or something worse? help!

We had a pheasant chick out of the egg early, and he had this protrusion on his belly. (see pic) I put neosporin on it a few times a day to try and keep it moist to see if it would reabsorb into him. It didn't. The hatch was three days ago, and now the protrusion is now drying out. Can anyone...

    Humidity for quail during lockdown

This is our first time incubating eggs. We have 8 quail eggs that looked good after candelling when we put them in lockdown. The humidity in the incubator has always fluctuated between 40-60 and its hard to keep it steady, even trying different amounts of surface area for the water. They are on...
