Sexing a 3.5 month Bantam Silkie, Pullet or Roo?

This bantam Silkie behaviorally I think is a hen. They are the lowest in the pecking order of a four chicken mixed flock (two Easter eggers, two Silkies) they are skittish, and don’t try to get to higher places like the other Silkie. Usually they walk more squat than the other Silkie (like...

    Bantam Easter Egger or Ameraucana?

Hey there! Just wanted to see what breed people think these girls are. I was told they were Ameraucanas, but when I picked them up the lady said they were Easter Eggers. Are they either, or do they look like something else? The tan/white one has more of a beard, and the blue/gray one has puffy...

Suspected rooster: Is this an attempted crow?

My chick is 7 weeks old. Started making this strangled squawk yesterday. I thought chickens didn’t crow until 4-5 months? Is this my absolute confirmation this is a rooster? (I’ve suspected this one since they were 2 weeks old, but these are my first chicks, so didn’t want to jump to...

    What’s with these tail feathers??

I’m pretty sure this 6 week old chick is a roo. I’ve noticed this little puff of feathers at the end of their tail that the other chicks don’t have. Does this have a name? Or a way to describe it?

Developing comb? Is this chick a rooster?

This little chick is developing some sort of comb on their head. They are five weeks old. People talk about the comb being pinkish and turning red. Is that what that looks like? Is this likely a roo, or could it still grow up to be a hen?

Chick with tiny wings, just growing slowly?

My Easter Eggers are almost 2 weeks old. One seems much smaller than everybody else, specifically their wings are much smaller. They seem to be eating a ton, is this just slow feathering? Do I not have to worry about size differences until they are a few weeks older?

Can I use a hanging wild bird feeder for bantam chickens?

Newbie here! I've been looking at a ton of feeders and waterers for my bantam chicks for when they grow up. Out of curiosity, is there any reason not to use a hanging bird feeder made for wild birds? I feel like my girls are going to be a lot smaller than your average chicken, and if the feeder...

    Easter Eggers EE color guesses??

Below are my four little six-day old Easter Eggers! I know it’s tricky to tell coloring on these little guys but would love to hear ideas/guesses! Even ballpark colorations would be interesting to see if they turn out that way!

    Teach/Introduce things to chicks early

Hi there! I'm raising my first group of chicks, and they are doing great! We are trying to raise them to be friendly/less skittish. They are bantam Silkies and bantam Ameraucanas. We were wondering if there were any specific things it would be great to introduce early that would make them more...

Introducing 1 week old chicks to 3 week old chicks

I have three 3-week old bantam silkies I’ve had since they were 1 day old. I am getting four bantam Ameraucanas on Sunday that were born this Monday. So the new chicks will be six days old and my older chicks will be 3.5 weeks. I’m planning to spend the whole day Sunday being able to...

Color of my bantam Silkie chick?

Hey there! I have three bantam Silkie chicks (they'll be three weeks old tomorrow!) and I was trying to figure out their colors. I'm pretty sure that one is black, one is gray, and the last one I have no idea. I was originally thinking buff, but they are more yellow. They started getting these...
