My boys (definately both male) have grown so much!
They are free roaming the majority of the time (unless I'm not around to supervise)
They love to Netflix and chill with me of an evening
Theyre definitely part of the family, such loving and funny boys. I adore the noises they make. Even...
Am I right in thinking I've got one of each here? Or is it too early to tell? 4 n half weeks old now ๐
Pik 1 u can see Bilbos face, and Frodos blue feathers coming in under the brown. Pik 2 is Bilbo and the breast is getting lighter.
Pik 3+4 are Frodo with his impressive quiff and darker...
Hey guys! So some may remember I posted about lil Frodo who hatched with a dent in his head. Well he's been a Labour of love! But he's survived and is completely thriving!
My question is this ... these 2 are so different from each other! Physically and behaviourally! They've both had the same...
Lethally CUTE!
Frodos head dent is dissapearing ... on Tuesday he had an hour long seizure, I was sure I was going to lose him, he became floppy and unresponsive and kept jerking ...after an hour he got back up wobbly and an hour later he was running around like nothing had happened. Since...
Hey guys so I ordered some Valley Quail eggs set them. Now I wasn't expecting many as with all shipped eggs their viability goes into the toilet. But I've never experienced what I went thru today. I'm absolutely devastated. I locked down what appeared to be 5 live eggs (movement on all except...
Just hatched out 18 chicks ... 1 really struggled to get out its shell. Had to help it a little at a time as I kept coming up against veins in the membrane. Took a total of 36 hours for the poor mite to hatch. By this time I was completely invested in this lil ones survival. It was floppy and...
I'm probably just being impatient but my Merry who I'm pretty sure is a hen has not laid a single egg yet. Her hatchmates have both been laying eggs now for 3 weeks but Merry just hasn't. Not a single one. Her vent is still small, but she has no bump and no foam and is displaying zero male...
Soooo Ive no idea what to call her colouring!! I thought for sure she was a cinnamon redbreasted BUT she has dark slate feathers mixed in with the cinnamon ...
Shes definately a cinnie morph of some kind I just can't pinpoint which kind ... redbreasted? Bluefaced? Cinnamon darth? Like what the...
So I got gifted a 5ft tank for my grow out tank this year. Hatched 11 chicks out (redbreasteds, silvers and whites) they were making an absolute mess of their brooder and are now a week old so I've transferred them over to this big tank.
They have a heat lamp and a heat mat but I was still...
One of my fresh hatched chicks (3 days) looks to be having issues pooping. Like the poor thing is constipated and needs a little massaging for the poop to come out. Its eating drinking chirping and running round like a drunkard. But I had to clean its bottom this morning as the poop had dried...

LuLu had a loose feather this morning ๐
Ok so am starting a pool on whether Sam, Pippin and Merry are male or female ๐๐
Just for fun, no prizes but I'd love to know who gets it right ...
Pippin won't be able to be accurately sexed unless they do or do not lay an egg at 9+ Weeks as they're pure white ๐ But my personal guess is male...
So I've noticed a disturbing habit that's literally just popped up with one of my FEMALE buttons. She's part of one of my breeding groups, 4 females 2 Males. She has done this to the 2 males and 1 female. Pecked them in the exact same spot until they're bleeding then she kept pecking and...
"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort." ~ J. R. R. Tolkien
Thought I'd put this up for all my fellow button peepers ...
These are tagged from my experience ... there are probably a lot of rarer colours I've missed out like pink eyed fallow, albino etc Feel free to add Chick Piks of the ones I've missed ...
Are all fallow chicks pink eyed? I have a chick I though was a slate redbreasted type but his feathers coming thru have a orange tint to them as well as silver. Is he a fallow? Pik 1 is freshly hatched ... pik 2 and 3 are today at just a week n half xx
