    My girls are 4 weeks old. Our temperature at night gets down to 65. Their coop is open to the air. Do they still need the light on at night? Thanks for your input.

    I just received 26 chick from McMurray Hatchery. I got the Rainbow heavy layer mix. They said there would be at least 5 breeds but did not say what breeds they would be. I've included some photos of my new little babies. Can anyone help me identify the breeds?

    Lame but don't know why

    One of my girls is suddenly lame. She can't stand at all. I pick her up and she doesn't complain when I move her legs or wings. Her eyes are clear. She looks good otherwise. She eats and drinks when I put it near her.it's been 3 days. All the others seem fine. What to do??

    Today I got 5 new pullets. I live in a warm environment. They are sleeping on a perch out in the run and not in the coop. How can I get them to sleep in the hutch up on the roosts or when they lay to lay in the coop up in the nesting box?

    I'd like to make my coop open automatically every morning. I do not have electricity to it, so the timer and latch mechanism need to be battery powered. It doesn't need to close it and I don't want to spend a ton of money. Ideas please.
