That's what we are thinking. Due to the weekend, I can't get in touch with the vet, but upon advise from someone with poultry experience and then my own research, we are trying diatomaceous earth. Not sure if that'll help.
I didn't think to ask. The vet did the fecal test (that's all I can afford at the moment) and it came back negative for common turkey ailments. With that and a physical exam the vet was stumped. Next time a turkey is sick she asked me to bring in a healthy one as well for comparison .
As of...
I unfortunately did lose another poult (with different symptoms). Took it to a vet two days after symptoms started and it died at the vets. With basic physical exam and a fecal test, tests came back negative with common turkey ailments (at the moment can't afford much more). They are stumped...
Unfortunately the turkey went downhill fast and passed away overnight. I still thought it had it had a chance since it was still walking and drinking yesterday, but I guess that wasn't in the cards. If we have another turkey that falls in, at first symptom we are taking it to the vet, but so...
I do have the other two isolated as well and am keeping an eye on them. I finally found a vet who treats turkeys and I'm bringing it in first thing tomorrow morning. I'm definitely going to be asking the vet about all that and see if I can stock up on all that. My in-laws have had chickens...
I've called 4 local vets and they don't treat chickens or turkeys. I keep getting referral for other vets but they don't treat birds. I'm currently reaching out to two other possibilities. I'm surprised that there arent more local vets that treat farm birds considering I live out in the...
No I don't have those, but I'll call the local feed store. If they don't have it, they'll point me in the right direction. They gave me VetRX for the first turkey that died because it's initial symptoms included respiratory problems (which cleared up within days, so we thought it was doing...
I have another sick turkey poult and I still don't know what's going on. The last sick turkey poult we had had blackness of the beak, blackness on feet along with swollen feet. It died about a month after its symptom showed, though it had a strong appetite up until about two before it died...
Update: it has since passed. A couple days ago, it lost all function in one leg and quickly went down hill from there. Still don't know what was going on with it.
As of right now, no. We have it isolated (though it can see it's siblings with the quarantine cage being about 5-7 feet away). It was raised with other siblings until it start showing respiratory issues (sneezing) at 4/5 weeks when we decided to isolate for the fear of spreading it. We didn't...
We're in South Mississippi. We really don't have cold past March. The blackness on the feet really started when it was still indoors at about 3/4 weeks. At first it just appeared as markings on the skin.
Sorry, this is a long post. I have a 8 week old turkey poult who has had a variety of symptoms for a while now and we cannot figure out what is wrong with it. At about 4 weeks I noticed that this particular poult was presenting with blackness on the beak by the nose and a few days later on the...
