    Guinea sleeping on roof

The plan was to enclose the deck for a permanent place for them. It’s not a people deck, it’s covered and on the second story. Mama has stayed in the tree most of the day just watching the flock from her perch. When we got Mama and Daddy in April it was our first experience with “owning”...

    Guinea sleeping on roof

“confusion” LOL! Our confusion of 12 consists of Mama, Daddy and their five almost 11wk old babies which I now call the Goonies, plus five 4 mo old Boneheads. They’ve been roosting on the railing of a 2nd story covered deck. Suddenly last night they were all in the big live oak tree about 20 ft...

    Unique Chicken Eyes

I’m wondering about my two Black Sexlinks eyes: one has “normal” eyes and the other one has unusual all black eyes.

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

I’m not sure I will ever be skilled enough to pith a bird. My neighbor processes his with a cone. I’ll probably get him to do ours.

    Huge Eggs!

Our smallest hen, Laverne, always lays the biggest eggs but yesterday she laid one so HUGE that it wont fit into the carton! We have two Red Sexlinks and two Black Sexlinks; the BSL always lay the smallest eggs; the two RSL eggs are generally large to XL but not huge. This is the second huge...

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

That’s what I’ll do then. Right now the guineas and chickens are in the same fenced area (about qtr acre with separate sleep areas). It hasn’t been an issue until the last few days…guinea daddy is getting aggressive with the hens.

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

I don’t know if you recall that initially I took the keets away from mama then thought I had made a huge mistake and started giving them back to her one or two at a time until she had eight. (I had read so many things about guineas being terrible parents and was being cautiously optimistic...

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

I know eventually we will process some of our guineas and they will be as delicious as they are beautiful and entertaining. And I will be thankful for them again.

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

Well, my baby Boneheads are going to be 7 wks old tomorrow. Their little bright orange legs have faded to a dull dreamcicle color and are turning various shades of grey, and they are much taller than they were even a short three weeks ago. 🎵They are big 🎶keets now!🎶 They’ve started jousting...

    Color?

I don’t have the answer but am hoping someone can tell me what this Bonehead’s color is…Buff, Pied Buff, Pinto or something else? Thanks in advance!

    Soft shell egg

One of our Black Sex Links laid an egg that was so soft it looked like a deflated balloon and it had no yolk. She’s young (4 mo) and laid her first egg about three wks ago. All of her eggs have been about the size of guinea eggs. I didn’t take a pic but it was really messed up! They have free...
