Hi there, sorry this has been a while since you asked for these. So above are pictures of 1 rooster taken from different angles. He has blackish eyes with a thin gold rim around them. His legs are grey. Also pictured is a splash poulet hen. She has more of a rose colored comb.

I think you're right. I was looking at my "Sussington" Poulets from my Black Orpington Rooster and Sussex Hen and some of them have flecks here and there that may become more pronounced in time. Thank you for your comment.

Hi. Thank you. Of course I need to be more precise.
The black and the white Orpington hens are both solid colours. The rooster is a solid Black Orpington with iridescent green.
The Sussex is a Light Sussex. I do have a Light Sussex cross hen - uncertain of the cross variety (maybe Favarolle)...
Hi all
These 4.5mth old roosters came from the same hatch. Father was a black orpington. Mothers were either white, black or a sussex. Regarding the 2 multi-coloured ones, I wondered if anyone knows which hen they might have come from. Are they orpingtons or a cross?
Hi, would you call this 4 month old a Black-Lavender split or a blue? I have to reduce my rooster numbers and he's a bit hard on the girls. Not sure I'll keep him.
Thank you. I just don't want to claim they are Orpies if they might not be 100%. P.s I like your byline about not having a life after chickens. They become your life I've noticed. haha
Thank you for your comment. I have 2 like this. They are bigger than I'd expect if Sussex genes were in the mix - I made sure they were well fed from young :-) - but they don't seem to match the "splash" orpington feathering, or the jubilee or any other. But they are just stunning roosters...
They look like my Orpingtons. I have a white Orpy rooster and a poulet that have just the odd feather that is black, just like that. Also, my all white Orpington hen has paler eyes and legs. Interesting!
I have a black Orpington rooster over white Orpington hen and ended up with 1 charcoal coloured rooster and 1 much lighter grey. I also got 2 predominantly highly feathered irridescent green black roosters with gold laced, and white feathers. We may have put a couple of Light Sussex eggs under...
