I believe a black rooster over a white hen could give you that color if the white was not dominate white.
I have two speckled sussex roosters and one SS hen. I also have experience with light sussex. I just don't see any sussex genes in your absolutely gorgeous rooster.Thank you for your comment. I have 2 like this. They are bigger than I'd expect if Sussex genes were in the mix - I made sure they were well fed from young - but they don't seem to match the "splash" orpington feathering, or the jubilee or any other. But they are just stunning roosters, being themselves!!!
