    Help!

The flock already found the chicks, the rooster didn't care about them and the broody didn't care about the rooster coming close to the chicks. The other hens just stared at them from about 15 feet away. A couple of hens did come up to check them out but the broody just chased them back over to...

    Help!

I found a hen that hatched 13 chicks of in a secret nest I didn't know about. She is across the street over in my neighbors yard with her chicks most of the time. They don't care about her being there but I'm still afraid a predator might get her or one of the chicks. I live out in the country...

New Babies, when do i introduce them?

You should probably introduce them at about 3 1/2 - 4 months of age, about when they get full-grown. Introducing a small amount of 2 month old chickens to a larger amount of adults in my experience can lead to some deaths. Doing it the other way around is just fine.

Is 3 weeks too big an age difference?

They don't have to be separated, but I would recommend it. I have kept 1 month old chicks with day old chicks and it turned out just fine.

    My hens aren't laying.

My 20 RIRs are 5 months 3 days old now, and still no eggs, I'll keep them inside the coop for a few days to see if they are laying outside. I've noticed only about 1/3 of them are sexually mature, do they start laying eggs before or after this?

    Help!

Well we have foxes, coyotes, possums, racoons, dogs, and LOTS of cats. However, too many cats and dogs live right by us, and all of the dogs in our neighborhood had bad encounters with the chickens when they were puppies, therefore, we have no dog problems. And with so many dogs barking at each...

    Help!

No, what ever it was climbed the fence, during the day, and it will only attack our chicks, it has killed 4 already. I think its a cat, we have probably 50 to 75 stray cats in our neighborhood and animal control wont do ANYTHING about it. Our run is 6 feet high and has holes 1/2 a centimeter in...

    Help!

I have 18 3-month old pullets and this morning I walked in the coop, my coop has no openings, but one was there lying dead half-eaten. Later I decided to put my hens up a bit early before dark. I put them in the run and decided to shut them up in the coop after dark, I came back to put them in...

    faulty eggs

No, she is not a rooster, we only have one roo and he mates with her all the time, plus she lays eggs. Second, I am not new to this. We have had chickens for over a year now, and I have hatched a lot of chicks. But still, none of rose eggs ever started development. I have incubated a total of...

    chicks are hatching!! Yay

Quote: Do not help them hatch, it can cause leg problems. Unless, you are trying to hatch twins, they can die sometimes if you don't help them, like I said, Sometimes.
