When she started feathering the feathers looked white, but after a couple of days they started to look yellowish. At first I thought it was the lighting, but my mother pointed out that the paper towels still looked white under the light. I put her in front of the window so I could see her in...
Thanks... I know NOTHING about parrots.. My family has had a few caged birds, but not many.. We know a lady that runs a rescue center (in Nashville, TN, I believe.. It might be Franklin) and she has TONS of birds.. If all else fails, I can speak with her and ask what would be best suited for him...
It works for me, so that's what I do.. We had one egg hatch.. I cracked the other two and they weren't alive, but they were fully developed.. One was even internally pipped.
Could someone please help me identify the color of this chick. A few others and I have been debating it in another thread. I have been told blue (but I don't believe they have brown on them?), porcelain, and calico. S/he came from a pair of white silkies. S/he looks nothing like they did when...
Out of the last three silkie eggs, only one chick hatched.. The others weren't alive.. When this one fluffs out, I will post pictures so we can see what this one's sister (I'm hoping..) looks like.. As of this moment, she doesn't look like she will be pure white, but it may just be all the ick...
I would also like to add that we have only had one chick die. It was a packing peanut and got sick a few days after we received them. Their packing peanuts are usually chicks of the same breeds you have ordered.
Oh believe me, it has been. I didn't take the out of the Baylor to float test them... Both times I did it, they were under the mama.. I float test them to see if there is a live chick inside the egg. What I like about it is that it works 100% of the time with any type of bird eggs. You fill a...
I ALWAYS order from Cackle Hatchery. I don't they're as well known as some of these others, but they are amazing and their birds look wonderful. (Especially their silkies.)
Overall, I have been very pleased with the birds we have gotten from them.
I had two silkies go broody. They sat on 26 eggs. I float tested the eggs after about two weeks. 12 failed. I left the remaining 14 under them.
We received our new incubator right before it was time for lockdown. I brought the bantam eggs inside (7) and put them in there. (I want to raise them...
I sit here and stare at my eggs. Trying to match the chicken to the egg. How many eggs of what color we get and how many chickens we have of each breed. I always think I have it figured out, but I'm always wrong. I need HELP. I want to put Polish and Silkie eggs in the incubator to hatch, but I...
