    missing chicks.

Last night I had 13. this morning only 7 came out with mom. No sign of a struggle. We have seen mice in there but I put up a ridex rodent repeler and haven't seen a mouse since. John says he's seen what he thinks is a rat. Will rats eat chicks? Very sad day.

    Fooling a mom

I have a hen that is brooding eggs that will be hatching in a couple of days. I also am expecting a few in the mail at the same time. Do you think I can sneak them in with the mom. Has anyone done this. Thanx Judy

    What to do next

Chicks have started to hatch in the box with the hen. She is sitting on about a dozen more. Should I remove the chicks to a container with a heat lamp. And when do I start feeding them? judy

    HELPCurious lump on breastbone

I just noticed one of my chickens looked like her breastbone was sticking our farther than usual. I felt it and there is a lump there almost the size of a golf ball. Any idea what it is?
