    Sorry, but I personally disagree with clipping a single wing... I hate clipping a Call, but have done it when necessary... I've found that clipping both is effective for keeping them low enough to stay inside a fence, they can clear a 2' high divider though, lol... but one wing causes them to...

    That is awesome!!!! :celebrate Please get something over their pen ASAP... even if it's cheap plastic netting or poultry wire for now... it will stop any from flying out and deter predators, hawks and owls love Calls as snacks, I can attest to that unfortunately... So glad he made it home...

    :fl Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst... a couple months ago I would have sworn any Call that went out of our yard and didn't return within 5 mins was a write off... Dex proved me wrong for sure... and we know he was grabbed by a predator, luckily his injuries were superficial...

    If it was dark, then you most likely wouldn't see or hear him if he's nearby... out in the open and in the dark they tend to hunker down and be silent to avoid predators... hope he shows up in the morning...

    Yes, an owl got my Snowy drake one night, but he came waddling home as fast as he could at first light the next morning, luckily... he and his mate are extremely bonded though too... is your drake really bonded to the hens? If so, and he is able, then he should come back to them... X2 on...
