And if I used my lavender orpington rooster (who appears to be Lav, not Lav/blue) to mate with black or red Easter egger hens- would the result be some chicks would be lavender or "straw" ? Or am I way over simplifying.

Hopefully you can tell them apart (pics above). There is a pale grey one, an almost white one, and a medium grey one with a slightly darker collar. Then I think I also got one shot of the rooster. He is very shy.
