The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

Thank you both. I really don't think it was trampling. Especially if Haris is the one that's gone. That chick had a lot of life and spunk in her. She could take down an LF chick on a bad day RIP little Haris.. gone way too soon

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

Thank you. I don't think it was the LFs. The other ones are healthy, just scraggly. Might be something else. As you might remember, Haris and number three looked very alike. As they grew, they looked almost identical. The only way I could tell them apart is by the size difference. Now that...

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

It was. Without getting into too much detail, the chick had been trampled on by the other ones when I found it. Obviously, it'd been dead for quite a few hours

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

Thank you :hugs . The LFs are moving to the coops very soon (within the week). Until then, I don't know if I can get them some place else. I don't have any boxes on hand. I'll see what I can do

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

Thank you:hugs. I'm still not sure what went wrong. They're acting totally fine, it's just their feathers that are bad AF. I don't think that's a reason though

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

They're doing good! I've got photos of both of them, but not sure you'd like them. Τσουρέκι won't sit still to save his life, so it's rather grainy. Freddie looks very rough. All the serama babies do. They're still spunky, but their feathers are a mess. Probably from getting stepped on and...

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

Great that you found caring homes for all of them! Hopefully they'll have long, happy lives, and maybe you'll get some updates on them as well!!!

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

I'm assuming you don't want them eaten, so you're better off keeping them:lau. I have enough (male) breeders as is!

Oh, I remember Lady Gaga's beginner crows. So cute :love

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

It's more likely that I change my mind than the chickens changing the plans :p . But yes, if it were something more long term, I'd probably have backup plans

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

The biddies are not so biddy anymore. Hopefully in two weeks, I can tell the males from the females. That's when most will go. I'll keep all the LF males for butchering (or at least, that's the current plan), and all the non-keeper LF females, along with the serama males will be given. The...

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

They're doing good. The ugly phase progresses, but they're growing! Eating, drinking, (pooping a lot:sick), and play fighting

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

I've never kept one of the breeds you have/had, the closest I've come to doing so is a generational silkie mix that crowed at 6 months old or so. That's pretty standard for my birds. Lady Gaga crowed at 12 or so weeks, his sons crowed at around the same time. That's early for me. My standard...

Let's hope Tintin works out for you, then!

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

I've found that most cockerels go throught a constant crowing phase, that (most) grow out of. The decibels they reach is not something I've found to be controllable

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

8 WEEKS?! Ummmmm that's WAY too early for me. Even Lady Gaga was older when he crowed! I'm not so sure on that hypothesis either, but doesn't hurt to theorise Oh my gosh, that guy is HILARIOUS🤣

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

    I guess I'm just mean:p. I think they're ugly right then and there. Doesn't mean I love them any less...they're just...going through a phase

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

I too love the teen stage, but the mid-late teen stage. From 6-8 weeks and up. That's when they start looking cute again, and actually start living like chickens

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

Yall are WAYYY nicer:lau . Out here they've been getting called feathered rats (no offense to any rat owner). The only ones I could say are kiiiinda cute are the serama

The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

I guess early crowing is connected with early maturation, and as such, lots of hormones at an age that's not appropriate?
