    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

I have 2 bantam welsummer hens, last Sunday, we got our FIRST EGG! woo hoo. My question is.... when to expect another. Our previous chicken was a standard barred rock hen and she jumped right in at practically an egg a day once she started. I haven't gotten another egg yet from these since...

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Yes, they do have some nice yellow legs ;-) These are bantams, so not sure if that makes a difference in their coloring. I got these at mypetchicken. They are looking much nicer than I thought they would. One had more lacing on the wings at first, but those feathers have fallen out and been...

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

What I can't figure out is how they manage to flip the sand up onto their backs so precisely just by flicking their feet. Looks like a seizure though, then they just lay there, dead like, just to see if you're still paying attention.

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Are we still looking like welsummers at 2-1/2 weeks? Why does one have seemingly different feather type? One (Peaches) has much more white dappled in there than Penny. And their wings look a bit different. Hopefully the pics are good enough to see what I mean. I'm enjoying watching their...

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Oh, I know you weren't trying to contradict, but again, It gives me hope that MyPetChicken actually DID send me two pullets. They say the "sex" them, so I'm hoping it's not just by coloration, since most can't be sexed that way. Plus they are hatchery chicks, so there is possibility that they...

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

My babies will be one week old tomorrow. Question, there is a slight difference in wing feather length. Does this mean anything? I'm hoping they are both hens. Just curious. It is the only way I can tell them apart ;-)

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Just got my bantam welsummer chicks today! From MyPetChicken. I'm hoping they are both girls that is what I ordered. Both seem to have the eyeliner and nice dark v on their heads. Haven't had bantams ever, I'm excited. they are SO tiny I can't believe it.
