    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Thank you. She was unfortunately killed by a coyote along with 7 other birds last fall :( I didn't get a Welsummer in my new batch of birds, maybe I will have one again some day, though she was VERY loud.

I second Welly and a roo based on head stripe, eye liner and how it already has that proud puffy chest.

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

My Welly, Tea, finally laid this morning. Took 9 1/2 months. My last layer from my first batch of chicks and of course she's the only one to lay in the bushes. My EE laid her second egg in the middle of the yard and her 3rd on the coop floor but now always in the nest box so hopefully now that...

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

My EE just started laying at 26 weeks, my Welly is the same age and has yet to lay or show any signs or interest in laying. The Welly squatted for me a couple times but i think I just caught her off guard and it was more of a startled submit than a ready to be mounted squat. I had thought she...

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

such a cute little guy. I love roosters at awkward teenager phase. When we went to the state fair a couple weeks ago there were lots of bantam roosters. Some of them have the silliest little crackly high pitched crows. I was laughing like the entire time.

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Thanks. nope, not yet. I thought she would be my first egg because her comb got red early but then it stopped growing and my BSL ended up being first. Then she squatted once so I thought she'd be second but my little runty RIR decided to take that spot. The welsummer hasn't squatted since. I...

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

I haven't ordered any chicks online before. I have 1 welsummer and 3 other breeds. Of my 4 girls the Welsummer is barely above the bottom bird. She tried very hard to be top chicken while the leader was sick and placed in quarantine for a few days but she got knocked back down shortly after the...

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

I'd agree with roo. This was my girl Tea at 2 weeks. She has a much smaller comb.

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Tea is about 17 weeks now. Her comb is getting larger and more red every day so I'm crossing my fingers and I have my eyes peeled for an egg. She's a feedstore Welly so I'm hoping for an early start. She's a witch with a capital B. She squawks back at me if I say anything while I'm out near her...

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Tea says "ummm, over here, my good side is over here." I have more pics of Tea than any other chicken and I take a LOT of chicken pics. She just loves the camera.

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Hiyas! I only have 4 chickens but 1 is a Welly so I wanted to join the club. Her name is Tea. My boyfriend wanted to name her Mr. T due to her stripe as a chick but I insisted on her having a girl name so Tea was our compromise. All the girls are very nice to each other, no one is pushy but...
