I now have a five week old Sebright who doesn't seem to like chickens. This is my sole February hatchling. She is afraid of the young Silkie and Brahma pullets. She hides from them and cries. She despises the two-day-old chicks I introduced her to. She stays far away from them, and shoos them...

Cuuute chicks! Such pretty frizzles. Since I had just one hatch last month, the chick stays in the house and rides around on my shoulder while I fold laundry and cook. You have a lot of February chicks!

Wow, that is a long drive! We used to live in Pullman, WA, and would like to go back to visit... but the drive is just so long. Very glad you got through the mountain passes without treacherous ice or heavy snow. The rain is quite enough. Glad you are home safe!

LOL, I have the opposite situation. My tween daughter got so mad one day, when her friends came over and gave all their attention to the cute Silkie chicks, instead of playing with her. "Chickens are ruining my life!" she yelled, and ran out of the room as her friends cuddled the puffballs...

That is a LOT of snow! Reminds me of when I lived on the Idaho border. Our was just a tiny dusting today, didn't stick.

Update: This one little Sebright is like no other chick I've hatched. At two days old, it is so alert, so upright, so agile and so FAST! I shall never be able to catch it when it is grown, so I hope it learns to come to me. So far, it enjoys perching on me, and is a chatterbox. It feels more...
