One of my Buff Orpingtons and one of my RIRs would lay huge eggs, but they were never egg bound. You shouldn't have trouble ... unless you have a tiny little hen! :)

I've had three, and they never did.

My Orpington hen is a very good layer; I get pretty much an egg every day from her, and she is two years old. My EE, RIRs, and Barred Rocks are pretty good, too.
