I just wanted to say something. EVERYONE has such strong opinions and many of them valid but each of us need to realize that EVERYONE has different values and different ways of doing things. No one should judge another person's way of doing anything.

A vulture will eat coagulated blood...I'm pretty sure a raccoon would lick up blood...you might be dealing with a predator attack and then scavengers too. Big animal would have carried it somewhere private. Birds of prey normally feed right where they are and are very capable of stripping away...
If it was a coyote it would have carried it away...a clean carcass put's me in mind of some kind of bird of prey.
You could try saving up and building a lean too at least. It doesn't have to be fancy, just enough to give them some over head cover when they need it. ...an old dog house with hay...
