    Yes! Foal coats are just that, and then the adult color appears as the foal coat sheds out, or is shaved. Also, greys arrive some base color, and develop gray over time. Very occasionally a foal will arrive gray, it's rare. And not to be confused with roan, a different story entirely. Mary...

    Caramel is shedding her foal coat, and is probably a liver chestnut, unless her legs and mane are black, then she's a bay. Right now I think liver chestnut. Mary
