Okay so…I decided to open the badly cracked egg that had no movement. The chick was in fact dead. 😭 I’m going to show you a picture of how the chick looked and maybe you can tell me how far away from hatch day it could’ve been that way I have a better rough idea of when to expect the sibling egg...
Ohhh I see! Well I tried to candle and could see a little bit but it’s soooo hard to see in person even staring at it as hard as I could I just couldn’t make out any movement inside. Here’s the best views I could get that weren’t just pitch black. But after staring at it for so long in a pitch...
Thank you so much for all your help. Now I’m worried about the sibling egg that is set to hatch same as this one. It fell also but it did not crack at all! So it’s perfectly fine on the outside at least. Is there anyway to tell how chick is on the inside of it? Being that these are olive color...
If you look to the top left, inside of where I circled, you can see a bit of feathers there. Idk what part of the chick it actually is but I sat and watched it for at least 5 minutes straight and seen no movement.
I applied more vegetable oil around 2 hours ago maybe and here’s how it looks now. Still no movement and seems to be lots of fluid inside but as I said, I have no clue how normal or not normal that is.
I’ve been worried that maybe there could be internal bleeding like inside the membrane because of how dark some areas looked inside of it after I first put the oil on it so I wonder if that’s why the veins appear to be clearing out? 😭 idk if that’s even possible but I’m just all around sad that...
Yes here’s how the veins looks yesterday when it was dropped and I applied the oil for the first and only time. I say yesterday because it’s technically 1:30am for me right now and the egg was dropped around lunchtime/12pm yesterday. So over 12hrs ago. Definitely do not see all the red veining...
Okay found clean brand new vegetable oil and applied it all over the exposed membrane!! Here’s a few pictures after I put the oil on! Definitely looks to have a lot of fluid inside. Not sure if that’s normal at this stage or not as I’m very very new to incubation and hatching and so far have...
Okay I will find the oil! I for sure have some extra virgin olive oil actually!! Will that work if I’m out of vegetable oil? I guess what worries me is the narrow end of the membrane looks rather dark so I worry there might be internal bleeding?? even though I do not see any blood at all outside...
Do you think it’s really okay even though I see no movement at all?? I tried to candle it but it’s impossible with such a fragile shell left around it so I have no clue what’s going on inside the membrane.
Thank you! I’ll look for some oil. All I might have is some vegetable cooking oil…is that okay?? Literally the only oil I might have will be in my deep fryer…is that safe to use?? Obviously it’s not hot at all it just stays in the deep fryer.
I’m not sure the exact hatch date of this egg as I completely forgot to put on the calendar. But I know it’s developed and can’t be too far from hatch day. Maybe 4-5 days tops! I was bringing it back to the incubator after attempting to candle it to see progress along with another egg due to...
