    Honestly, there isn't much to notice other than no bad smell, and the skin starts to grow back slowly. My last girl (who scalped herself as a baby younger than op's) wore a disposable cloth make up wipe on her head until it just fell off with the remaining scabbing after everything was healed...

    If she keeps fighting, I'd continue trying to treat. If she stops fighting, I'd put her down. Warmth can do rather miraculous things with drawing birds back from the brink.

    Unfortunately I agree. I've had some pretty dang severe scalpings (one self inflicted, several from quail and a few from hens deciding they didn't like chicks they were around prior to) but never as bad as this. It looks like the brain is exposed. Was this a crested breed?
