I know how you feel. I once saw a wild couple raise all 8 to almost adulthood, then one got hit by a car. It was a fantastic effort for a wild pair. I'm always telling local birds, well if you would just come in....

I actually have a bird who does this, my common mynah. A guest once placed a bag on the table near her cage inside 'her' territory...And we witnessed her line up her butt through the bars to shoot one right at the leather monstrosity! People are warned. They do not believe me until they see it.

It really depends on the ambient temperature. In an Auzzie summer it can still be sitting at 30 celsius or more, and even then I'd make sure they had a heat source before I went to bed so they could get warm if we had a sudden drop to under 25. If they are getting adult feathers and pile up...

Laundry? Garage? Even a tool shed? I would even keep mine in a cat travel box if I had to, not particularly roomy or comfortable, but safe and not too bad for a few hours. In a pinch a kept a couple in the bath tub.

I rushed my first ever hatch. If I see an external pip and get nervy I read the page again. My last hatch I only assisted slightly by breaking the membrane because the others had disturbed the egg and disorientated the poor blighter, then I walked away. I'm getting nerves of steel!

Incredible photo! Love it! The pool is a great idea. I clear out a section of laundry and barricade it in. The bathtub also works in a pinch. My laundry idea is not working on baby chickens...
