I go out to the coop at 5:10am I have no electricity in the coop so I put a solar shed light in it. I turn the light on and open the door to the run. I go back about an hour later and usually find 3 eggs in the best box. I turn the light off and let the girls free for about an hour. Then I let...
I saw Land O Lakes brown eggs in the store 2 for $5 I'm sticking with $4 because when I was trying to buy fresh local eggs last year that was the price.
I've only sold 1 dozen but I've given away about 6 half dozen to people at work. I tell them if you want eggs just leave an empty carton on my...
That has happened with my chicks before they started laying. They are about 19 weeks old and I'm still only getting about 3 eggs a day from 6 chickens.
I never counted how many day old but my RIR's are 122 days old (18weeks) and they were 120days old when they laid their first eggs I'm hoping to see some eggs when I get home.
Last night I got 1 small egg, nothing this morning. It's been really hot/humid so maybe my girls aren't "regular" yet. Anyone else have a great 1st round and nothing for 2 days?
There was 1 more larger egg when I got home last night.
This morning a poorly formed egg and an egg that if I were to pick it up it would have broken both under the roost.
I checked before work and no eggs toda.
So this was my total take yesterday

I was so "eggcited" this morning! Unfortunately whoever laid these did it on the roost. The shells are soft. I thought I could finish the grower feed by I guess not. I picked up the Layina crumble so that's what I'll use starting tomorrow. They said I didn't need oyster shell but I want...
I hear you! I think some friends think I've gone off the deep end. Whenever someone asks about my chickens I try to contain myself and say "oh I love my chickens" if they pursue I'll continue!
I actually put my chicks up on the roost a few times before they got the idea.
We put a roost in the run on 2 cinder blocks and they went right for it. Of course that was much lower than the 4' roost inside
I was so excited when I saw one chick up on the roost I knew the others would follow and they did. Their about 13 weeks old and been up on the roost for a week or 2.
