    Update on color project- I do only the D'uccle for show. Everything else is just a backyard chicken for egg production for my neighbors. I do have a color project going. it's bringing the lemon coloration to the d'uccles. Here is the color I'm striving for, and what is currently in the d'uccles...

    I have several new lemon babies, this is a nice roo I will be using on my mille girls. He's the very lemony chick that was at the start of this thread. this picture doesn't do the lemon justice.

    Finally, I have a lemon d'uccle with black instead of blue. This is first gen d'uccle/serama, so the next gen should bring back toe feathering and hocks.

    Keep in mind that the white color is not the base color. there very well could be a base color the white is covering up. So, yippee! AND, keep in mind that two copies of silver will turn a bird white, so you may have a silver something or other. Good project!

    Update on my roo, he's getting over fowl pox and fighting those little mites at the same time. I give him a bath each weekend to get rid of the mites and spray the crap out of my bathroom. So far, he's still hanging in there. He has given me some glorious birds, so I hope he makes it.

    My citron d'uccle/serama cross. One step closer to lemon d'uccles. Also have a silver with blue cross, and another color I don't know what it is. it's the palest dove grey tinted tan. This is the lemon next to the pale mauve. There is a blue behind them.

    I don't know anything about lacing, so I really can't answer that question. You could always do what I do and just lock ALL my hens in with the rooster and hatch them all. You just never know what you're going to get. I didn't know I had a rooster carrying chocolate! And on another note, I did...

    You can use the silver or gold gene, or Di or Champagne. Apparently, I have one of those genes already in my young stock. i also just hatched my first chocolate d'uccle!

    My cream light brown dutchs have arrived. The male roo was injured in shipping, but he seems to be doing better, so I believe he will make it. My little spangled hamburg is getting his first tiny spangles. I'm interested in seeing exactly what color lemon is, as I've only seen it on the screen...
