I am not exactly sure what the temp is but they have lots of room to get away from the heat and instead they are staying right by it. When I put my hand in there it is not real hot at all, just nice and warm and they seem quite content with the way it is.
The only problem with getting another duckling is that it will be a full sized duck and grow very fast. These little guys grow very slow and I would be afraid that bigger one would hurt my one that is fine. I had thought of that and someone in the next town is hatching out some Call Ducks but...
Ours makes you buy 3 and I surely don't have room for 3 more. Rural king makes you buy 2 and I don't want 3 in the house at the same, two is my limit for the mess and smell since they will be in here for 6 weeks. The brooder is open all the way at one end and they still stay near the heated...
I have raised a single duckling before with a Mirror and stuffed animal. I didn't want two more ducks if I ordered another one so I have chose to do it this way as I already have 15 in the backyard. I just pray it will get better but it doesn't seem to be. I have ordered Brewers yeast for it...
Yes it still has a bad pasty butt and the leg is totally unusable. It just hangs there. It hasn't grown any since I got it but is still eating some and drinking. I am trying everything I can think of. I have no vet for it and it just isn't making any progress at all it seems.
Oh Thank you Miss Lydia for the picture of them!!!!! The one is having trouble with diarrhea but the other one is just fine. Hopefully it will clear up. They are soooo tiny and sooooo cute. Metzer farms has a wonderful stock of birds. I love them!!!
Yes I was delighted that mine were shipped out later in the day on Tuesday of this week but I still got them from Tennessee to Ohio on Thursday morning at 8:30 am when the post office opened. I was disappointed that the post office did not call me at 6am as they did for my Mallards since they...
I am so sorry that I don't know how to do pictures on here. I got two Pastel colored ones and they are sooooooo cute!!!! They are the size of bantam chicks!
I received my two little Call Ducks yesterday from the Metzer Farms plant in Tennessee. It was in the 20's F here in Ohio and I was quite concerned for them. They were shipped on Tuesday of this week and I got them on Thursday. They had three heat pads in with them and were pinioned just as I...
Actually I have had both do that. I live in a housing development and the neighbor has hungry Pitt Bulls. If mine would happen to fly into their yard it would be very bad for them. That is why I have to clip mine or if I get them as babies I pinion them. Metzer Farms was supposed to pinion...
Do you let yours fly??? I used to years ago and would have to chase them down quite far from where I lived. I have to either pinion mine or clip them now to keep the two girls I have in my yard. Yours are beautiful!!!! I wish they could sell them sexed but I know that they get them from...
My two Mallard Hens came from Metzer. The only problem with mine was that I wanted them pinioned and they forgot to do it. I have to catch them to clip their wing so that they don't fly off. They are great Momma Hens though and have produced many eggs for me. Metzer is great about contacting...
I live in Ohio and ordered my two female Mallard ducklings from Metzer Farms. This was before they had the Tennessee plant as it was 2 years ago. They were to be pinioned so they would not fly away. The grojel container was empty by the time I got them but they arrived just fine. I picked...
