    Oh thanks so much for the pictures! I too have never had a hen go broody, and will be learning as I go if I do. Sounds like you are doing the right thing giving her and the BA their own little area. Love those babies! I too was amazed that they treat their babies as if they came from them...

    I'm a bit bummed as after reading these posts I thought that Austra's laid a white egg, as Meyer advertised but I guess I always have room for another brown egg layer! I do love the bird though.. she is very pretty. MB Can someone post a picture of their Austra White eggs? Thanks!

    How did your hatch go? Hope it was successful. How old are they now? I have one from Meyer hatchery that is almost 12 weeks old. Docile enough, but a bit aloof. Meyer advertised that they can lay as early as 12 weeks, ,although I don't see any signs of that yet. Here is a picture of here...
