I am so sorry. I just now came across your post. Did you get help elsewhere?
I am no expert. Limited experience. Lead Wolf is the first contributer on this thread. I would alert him. Another person who helped me a lot and talked me through by bout of coccidiosis was ChickensAreSweet (from...
No, ramble away. That is awesome. Our winters are not just cold....they can be mean. Have been reading about different feeds today and also about corn for warmth (probably GMO. :(
My girls are now about 25 week but some are getting really red and bigger combs and wattles so they are...
I have BO's 15 of them
3 leghorns (white)
And a Black Copper Marans Rooster who was a later addition, and who is three months older than the girls. Hired to hawk-watch and take care of the girls. Trying very hard to convince him he's still a baby so the girls get a chance to grow a bit more...
I am very very much a probiotics-pusher but I would not chance it right now. Nothing but crumbles and Corid water for the duration of the treatment and when everyone is better (when treatment is done) then I would put ACV in their water....starting with one teaspoon per gallon and working it...
Maybe I wrote this already, but JIC (because I am jumping between 2 thread with the same issue) No electrolytes or vitamin supplements because they have thiamin, a B vitamin which the protozoans need to proliferate.
Right on. You can put the extra in the fridge. I would even make the mash with their crumbles. Also, is your starter medicated with Amprolium? That is good if it is. But if it isn't I'd get them all on the mash. My chicks just went for it.
With the sickest one I would spend long and...
Yes, it's chicks that are the most vulnerable although I have since learned they can get coccidiosis at any age. Give it to all of them in their water according to the correct dosing instructions. You may have to very carefully dropper feed (without forcing the fluid in her little beak) . I...
This is what Chickens are Sweet gave me and it worked like a charm.
Corid 9.6% solution- that's the right stuff.
Take 9.5 ml and put it in a gallon of water. Mix it, and give that to them as their only water. Change solution daily. Give for 5 days. Repeat course if coccidiosis signs come...
I just now found this post from several days ago! The following is what Dawg53 gave me as instructions for the Corid I had:
Corid 20% soluable powder dosage is 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water for 5-7 days. Dont mix anything else into the corid/water solution.
I hope it's not too...
All this is helping me to keep a close eye on them...know what's normal and what isn't....to trust my instincts to at least ask others about deviances...and to keep certain meds on hand. They are a responsiblity that I love. These Buff O's sure do 'give back' even without eggs yet. They're...
I'm holding off on any tretament. The poos have been fine. Pink coming back into the combs already. They're not crazy for cooked eggs...a few bites and they're done. Just trying now to keep the coop and run as clean as I can. They are all lively again.
Thank-you all for the excellent...
PS.....thanks to Dawg53 for that great website with the poo pics in it. It has come in handy twice over the last two days: Once regarding intestinal mucosal slough and now.....(and I would not have known otherwise)......worms.
I think I'm on the fast track to getting educated and getting...
Good Job, CAS. This should convince him to let me stick with the treated water for them. After this Corid I will add their electrolytes and vitamins back in.
NEW ISSUE! Since my last post I did a poo patrol again. SOMEBODY has got WORMS. Ahhrrrghh. If it's not one think it's your...
Thanks again, C.A.S. I can certainly overthinking things. I hear I'm not the only one of us whose DH's think we're in chikin idolatry.
I found the little one with a bit of blood in the stools: (my runt Scuffiluppiggus...AKA Scruffy)....caught her in the act. Not sure if it's shed...
