We're still waiting for TSC to get chicks in. But honestly we have called every grain store around and nobody has chicks yet here in MA! I have 13 RI/NH Reds but am dying to raise some chicks.
My RI Reds are adopted full grown. They have become a bit more friendly since I give them lots of attention. Are RI Reds known for any particular disposition? I'm wondering if I raise the chicks they will be more interested in human interaction. Any thoughts?
So do your chickens free range in the rain? Will the chickens be OK if they get wet and then it gets cold at night? The temp is supposed to be a low of 38 degrees tonight so I wanted to let them out to free range. Any thoughts?
Hmm, didn't really think about that but probably the large fowl. The RI Reds I'm getting seem rather large so I'm assuming they are considered large fowl. I'm a newbie so I don't know a whole lot about this yet. LOL! Any thoughts?
Oh, good no frozen eggs. Where did your husband live? We are in So Eastern Ma near RI border. My mom is in St. Petersburg. What kind of chickens does your daughter have? The NH reds seem to be popular around here too.
Interesting. I never thought about the eggs freezing. We are definitely very South of Alaska but MA can get bouts of frigid weather (not too often.) I'm guessing they usually lay at the same times each day? And I wonder how long it would take for the eggs to freeze. Most days we are home so...
