We got 3 inches of snow over night. I shoveled a path for my chickens and tried to get them to go out. I put one chicken by the door and kinda nudged her onto the ramp. She saw the white stuff, freaked out and ran back inside. The only chickens that have gone out today are my 4 hens that were...
My chickens rarely ever go out in the snow, but I always leave their door open all day so they still have the option to go out. I go out about every 2 hours to check on them in the winter, because I live right by the woods so I worry about critters getting in the coop in the winter. Just make...
It was pretty cold today, and before turning off the lights tonight I put vaselin on all of my chickens combs for the first time. Let's just say it wasn't a very fun and exciting first time. Made me laugh though! I couldn't even get any on one of my roosters, and the other rooster was all...
We finally got some snow! But it's too windy to convince my chickens to even climb down the ramp. We only got an inch but they looked at it like it was an inch of lava on the ground. :D crazy chickens!
We were supposed to get snow today and ended up with LOTS of cold rain... I was actually looking forward to having a white Christmas. Normally we get a lot of snow here in Michigan, but we haven't gotten more than an inch yet. I'll take some of your snow aoxa!
Okay thanks! I'll try that when it starts snowing. We still don't have any snow in Michigan yet... :( But we might get some this weekend! Thanks for the tip. My chickens are some of the most stubborn animals I have ever met.
I normally free range my chickens all year. But no matter how hard I try, I cannot get my chickens to go out in the snow. I leave their door open all day, but they won't go out. Is there any way to convince them to go out? Because after being cooped up all the time, they start to fight. :/
