also, halfway through the dip, scrubbing the legs with an old toothbrush will help remove a bunch of dead mites/waste and allow the solution to get in deeper.
I highly recommend using an old toothbrush with some soapy water and a few drops of tea tree oil in it to scrub the legs before you dry and apply the Vaseline. It seems to really help get those buggers and their poop out from under those scales and expedites the process. Good luck!
I would use an old toothbrush and scrub her legs with soapy water (Dawn) and add a couple stops of peppermint essential oil, eucalyptus essential oil, and tea tree essential oil. If you have any of those, it will make treatment work very fast. Afterward, coat the legs in Vaseline. This method...
I got a boy, not long ago that was suffering from scaly leg mites. I knocked those things out with the first treatment! I used warm soapy (dawn dish soap) water with a few drops of peppermint essential oil and soaked his legs for a couple minutes. Then used the same water and an old toothbrush...
User an old toothbrush with warm soapy water and scrub them up. Maybe add a couple drops of peppermint or tea tree oil to the water. Afterwards, dry her legs and coat them in oil (I use vegetable)
If you have an old toothbrush, use warm soapy water (dawn works great) and the toothbrush to scrub her legs. Dry them, then coat in vaseline. Do this every day and they'll go away quickly. If you have any peppermint, lavender or tea tree essential oils, adding a few drops of them to your soapy...
We picked up a new CCL roo last fall when I lost my boy. When I got him home, I realized that he had mites (and rediculous toenails). He was in rough shape. Every day during his quarentine, I took a bucket of warm soapy water with a few drops of lavender and peppermint essential oils (I was out...
I THINK 5 drops if your talking about the pour on type. I'm dealing with them now with the new roo I just brought home. He's getting ivermectin pour on one now and once in 10 days, his legs scrubbed every day with an old toothbrush and soapy water with vet rx, and a thick coating of Vaseline all...
If you have time to do it every evening, that would be best but no less than every other day. I used vegetable oil, put it in an ice cream bucket and just grabbed one bird at a time, did a quick dip, then moved on to the next. Took no time at all to do them all.
Any kind of oil will work. I would avoid coconut oil though just because it's expensive. When I did it, I added a couple drops of tea tree essential oil into the oil I was using but just a couple drops, it's VERY potent. I don't know about the Frontline drops. I wouldn't use a flea and tick...
Do you think it would work to dunk the chickens legs in olive oil with added tea tree oil and peppermint oil? I have 30 chickens to treat. I took one girl, soaked her legs in warm water, dunked her legs in olive oil, then lathered with Vaseline. I'm not sure I can do that with all 30. They don't...
