Nevermind.... Their birds aren't sexed.. I have to get females only.
I will probably order from metzer, I just can't get Anconas. I might just get magpies, which are a close relative of the Ancona
Yeah it gets hot. I can deal with 100F heat but I can't deal with cold weather, lol
I will be ordering from cackle, metzer doesn't carry Anconas. I will be ordering around March, I don't want it to be too warm when I order them.
Thank you for your help :)
Hmm... I would still want to order from a closer state, isn't metzer farms in California? That's too far for me, and isn't that alot of stress on the ducks travelling that far?
I'm in Texas and I'm ordering from ideal poultry and they don't carry Anconas :( and like I said, they don't carry Welsh Harlequins either. I'm too afraid to order out of state, I don't want dead ducklings in the mail.
Aw, great to hear! :)
And yes 1 Drake per 3-4 hens, but I'm not planning to get Drakes, only females, if I do get any I will sell them because of many reasons, one reason being that my only duck I have right now is crested and during mating she could get her crest ripped off.
I am getting more ducks in a few months :) and I need suggestions and opinions on breeds
I'm thinking of getting some:
Khaki Campbell's
Cayugas
Blue Swedish
Indian runners
Magpies
And I want some Welsh Harlequins but my hatchery does not carry them
Are these breeds good? Egg production is...
