    Was the killer a racoon?

Yep I am going to have to run another hotline due to the way our fence is set up. I am also blocking any gaps in the fence (it's a very old fence) with sticks and rubbish and so he will have to work harder to get in and out

    Was the killer a racoon?

Yeah we are in MD. No bobcats here. My husband saw the coyote two days ago attacking the boys. I also have been unable to catch him in my havaheart trap, since it's too big, so it's a fair chance he was the killer in the first round of murders a few months ago. My neighbor also told me he shot...

    Was the killer a racoon?

Yeah I have lines around every perimeter fence for each pen. They are high tho and I think the coyote goes under the fence

    Was the killer a racoon?

It's been almost 2 months since the attack. I caught a feral cat and my cat in my havaheart trap. So I gave up. I reenforced the coop and added a new automatic door. It's fort Knox at night. So, I had to move 5 boys over to this pen to stop harassing the ladies. 3 were killed yesterday by a...

    Was the killer a racoon?

Exactly what Bigtom said. The one who killed my chickens could have been a relocate from someone else. I still haven't caught it. But if I do, my husband will quickly/humanely put it down. But I agree with a right to live. I wouldn't just trap and kill coons for the fun of it. I don't agree...

    Was the killer a racoon?

I still haven't caught them. I am thinking of moving my trap. I am also thinking it might have been a dog or something that can't get into a fenced area. I have a fence surrounding the coop, on the night of the attack I had the gate open. But since I have set the trap (inside the fenced area...

    Was the killer a racoon?

Thank you! I'll try that too. I have the chicken body, marshmallows, and syrup all over the trap. But haven't caught anything yet. I'll dump some chicken food and cat food over there today

    Thank you!

    Was the killer a racoon?

Thank you so much for the insight! It's warming up this week and will be almost 60F on Friday. I am going to quirt some fresh syrup on there today and hope we catch them. Question tho, are they smart enough to not come back if one is trapped? Like if there is a family running loose, will they...

    Was the killer a racoon?

Thanks! We are at 3 nights now without a catch. But it's been very cold (3 degrees last night), so anything I put out is freezing and maybe not smelling as exciting. I am going to keep the trap going for a few weeks. I am really hoping to catch that stinker. I am going to tan it's hide and...

    Was the killer a racoon?

Thank you! Good point about not attracting them to the coop. I am not going to put any birds in it again for awhile, so I'll try right outside the door for a bit, since I don't know where the coons could have come from. My neighbors yard is one side and a horse field behind my goat yard. There...

    Was the killer a racoon?

Thanks! I'll move it shortly. Hopefully my goats don't try to dance on top of it

    Was the killer a racoon?

You guys seem to have experience with catching racoons. I put the trap inside the coop. Do you think I should put it outside somewhere instead or is there a good chance the racoon will return to the scene of the crime?

    Was the killer a racoon?

Thanks, but it's a concrete floor. We already have wire over all the windows, but the coon came in the door and climbed over 6ft high to get to them on the roost bars. 😔 I ordered a new automatic door so I don't have to worry about (hopefully) in the future

    Was the killer a racoon?

He will be dispatched quickly. I would never want to make him some else's problem

    Was the killer a racoon?

Saw those online. If this becomes an ongoing issue, I'll grab a few. Hopefully I can get him with my havaheart trap.

    Was the killer a racoon?

Thank you! I have some of that I'll throw in there too

    Was the killer a racoon?

Thank you! I'll leave the trap out for awhile. I read squirting syrup and using some marshmallows should increase my chances of success. I am going to add that today

    Was the killer a racoon?

I ordered a new automatic door, and I won't be putting any chickens in this coop for awhile. I'll try to trap over the next few days, hopefully we catch the culprit. This is the first major predator attack we've ever had. I should have known something was happening when my dogs were freaking out...

    Was the killer a racoon?

Thank you! Luckily it wasnt all my chickens. This was my "retirement" coop, all chickens over 2 year. But I wanted them to live out their days, not get killed by some crappy racoon. Also my favorite rooster Kyle was killed. He will be missed 😔
