Plants amaze me.
I used a timer for lights when I started seeds in the house. The window faced south, but didn't get much direct sun because of trees and roof overhang. What's interesting is that even though the grow lights looked brighter to me, the seedlings still leaned toward the window.
Carrots need very loose soil to grow into nice straight carrots. Imagine those teeny little roots pushing down and hitting a small rock... then growing off to the side to get around it.

@Lemon-Drop, may I make a suggestion? Don't plant leeks, shallots, and garlic near peas (or beans). They don't grow well next to each other. Swap your locations for broccoli and leeks; same with the greens (lettuce/kale) and the garlic and shallots.
