Meyer Hatchery - 4 of 15 chicks dead

Absolutely, Deb! Don't give up hope. Why it would take 3 days when you're only 4 hrs away, seems a bit strange. Hopefully they don't go through too many check in points. Please post when you get your chicks!!! ~Connie

Meyer Hatchery - 4 of 15 chicks dead

Deb, As far as I know, Meyer ships USPS Express which is 48 hrs or less. You might want to call them and let them know what you've been told. You're paying for the Express shipping and I'd ask USPS who you need to talk to and who can check as to the route the chicks will be taking. Meyer...

Meyer Hatchery - 4 of 15 chicks dead

I think I'm going to cancel my 9/28 order and wait until Spring. Then I'll order more than just 3. Just to repeat, I have no qualms about Meyer Hatchery. I do think the USPS has been cut so close that even the live animals don't get extra attention like they used to. Hatcheries aren't in...

Meyer Hatchery - 4 of 15 chicks dead

Thank you for this info. I didn't know the chicks and ducks were sent from different states. Having ducks come north by 2 states certainly sounds like a better option. I was going to add a few more ducks anyway. ~Connie

Meyer Hatchery - 4 of 15 chicks dead

My chicks came into the PO at 6am and I was called right away. Took me 10 minutes to get there. Maybe you could go and pick your chicks up, by yourself, and assess the situation before you take the chicks home? I know I was heartbroken to see those little ones. I can only imagine how it...

Meyer Hatchery - 4 of 15 chicks dead

No, I never got the tracking info on them. Maybe Meyer has it. I just assumed it would go straight from Ohio to Seattle, but that might not have been the case. I do wish there was someone close to me. I'd be happy to go and pick them up if they were 2 or 3 hrs from me. I was thinking it...

Meyer Hatchery - 4 of 15 chicks dead

Just wondering...is there any other way to have chicks and ducks transported than USPS? I do want to say that I don't have any qualms about Meyer Hatchery. They have been great! Once the little ones leave the hatchery Meyer really doesn't have any control over the shipping. It must have...

Meyer Hatchery - 4 of 15 chicks dead

I'm so glad that I found this thread! I'm a relative newbie to BYC but I've had chickens throughout my life, starting when I was 6 yo and my dad was a partner in a pheasant farm (plus other poultry). Currently, I have 2 EE hens (sold as Americaunas), 1 (true) Americauna, 1 Lt. Brahma, 2 Cuckoo...
